What
exactly is a "float boat"?
Float
tubes have been around for many years, with the original
models being little more than a canvas covered innertube.
Some later models were made from "U" shaped
tubes for easier entry and exit. With a Float Tube,
usually waders are worn and the lower half of the body
is submerged in the water.. Propulsion in a float tube
comes from kicking with swim fins attached to your feet,
which can be very slow and tiring -- especially in windy
conditions.
Float
"boats" came along several years later, and
offer several important advantages. First, the seat on a
boat is suspended between two pontoons above the water
-- so getting your legs wet is optional. Secondly,
sitting higher is also a distinct advantage in seeing
objects both above and below the water and provides for
easier casting. Fixed oars provide propulsion for float
boats making them very light and maneuverable on rivers,
as well as lakes.
One
ride on a DryFly float boat and you'll be convinced this
is the most comfortable. quiet, stable, and safe way to
float a river or lake for fly fishing, river running,
photography, sight seeing, hunting, or just plain fun!
What
makes our boats unique?
At
first glance DryFly float boats look much the same as
other products on the market....until you look at our
unique features.
Pontoon
and frame construction:
- A
tough coated nylon pontoon shell with twin urethane bladders.
- Each
pontoon contains two independent full size urethane bladders
with separate
valves, meaning that outer punctures
won't keep you from staying afloat. Just inflate the
adjoining bladder and complete your float!
- The
frame is constructed of aircraft
grade square aluminum tubing, making
it stiffer and stronger than any competitor's round
tubing. We even guarantee it for life!
- There
are absolutely no welds
on our frames. Extruded aluminum assemblies are used
for lifetime service. Stainless steel fasteners
are used for assembly.
- When
it's time to pack up there are no
tools required. Nothing to loose, jam
or break when you're done.
- It's compact
size take up very little space. Transport your boat easily in a vehicle or even as check-on
airline baggage!
